Born and raised in rural Kansas, Sara's farming roots run through both sides of her family. Over the past 20 years, Sara has added to that personal experience with jobs in the U.S. Senate, with the national non-profit group Environmental Defense Fund and as a consultant on agriculture, environment and sustainability issues in the private sector. 

In late 2017, Sara launched Grounded Growth, LLC — a one-of-a-kind, online membership platform designed to support a market for regenerative agriculture. Grounded Growth now focuses on helping farmers and emerging food companies learn how to market their regeneratively-grown products.

In late 2021, Grounded Growth merged into the Global Food & Farm Community with Jill Clapperton. Sara has taken on the role of Co-host of that community which provides a trusted, ad-free space to learn about and apply the latest soil health science and engage in discussions with soil health DOERS from around the world.

Jill Clapperton PhD is a Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Edacious PBC a new company in Marlborough MA USA dedicated to linking soil health to the nutritional value in food. She is also the founder and owner of Rhizoterra Inc, and leader of The Global Food & Farm Community, a private, ad-free social network dedicated to improving soil health and building a healthier food system.

Jill is an internationally recognized educator on how to create, measure, and maintain healthy productive soils that produce tasty nutrient dense food. With a PhD in Plant Ecophysiology, she worked as the Rhizosphere Ecologist for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for 16 years moving to the USA.
